Painting and Porches
 
The ornamental iron needed to go as it was totally out of character for the house. A supplier in Texas was contracted to supply new columns, railings and spandrels in keeping with what probably had been there originally. All were solid real wood and actually turned from cypress, the trees that grow in the southern US swamps. Cypress never rots and is impervious to insects. Also now it was time to paint the trim.

You can see all the new soffits. Now there are no birds flying around in the attic!

It wasn't really feasible to add the soffits back between the first and second floors,

so a wide moulding was placed to add separation and a design element.

The Vintage double doors were an ebay purchase. Ebay is a great source for materials.
